Bursa known as the ‘Green Bursa’ was once the capital of the Ottoman Empire. Known for its hills, silk, textiles, chestnuts and Turkish delight the famous Turkish dish Iskender Kebap also originates from this city. Travel by ferryboat via Yalova enjoying the countryside view, followed by a short drive into the city of Bursa.
ULUDAG (MOUNT OLYMPOS):
Climb the top of Uludag Mountain by teleferik (cable car). Uludag one of the most famous mountains in Turkey offers spectacular views of the surroundings. In ancient mythology it was known to be the peak from which the Gods watched the Trojan War.
ULU CAMI (GRAND MOSQUE):
Built in 1396 by Sultan Beyazit it the largest of all mosques in Turkey. Made entirely of cut-stone and having 20 domes it a classical example of Turkey’s monumental mosques.
GREEN MOSQUE & GREEN TOMB
The Green Mosque, constructed between 1419 and 1420 gets its name from the green turquoise tiles used as adornments. It is one of the most beautiful Ottoman structures in Bursa. The Green Tomb is perhaps the most important Ottoman structure in Bursa, showcasing the exemplary craftsmanship of the period.
